It’s a great pleasure to welcome the one and only Shur-I-Kan to my Body Rhythm label which his downtempo ‘Studio Fever EP’ which hits stores today.

One of dance music’s most respected producers, Shur-I-Kan is best known for his releases on the revered Freerange label ran by Jimpster over the past decade, including two stellar albums and a string of dancefloor hits. He’s also an in-demand remixer, runs the popular Dark Energy label with Milton Jackson and is a member of the live dance act, ‘The Bays’.

For this release Shur-I-Kan returns to his roots with a versatile three-track offering that bridges the gap between downtempo and deep house.

Ross Couch – Sounds Underground EP Hits The Traxsource Top 10

My latest release, the ‘Sounds Underground EP‘ has been enjoying a successful promo period over at Traxsource over the past 10 days.

Last night one of the tracks. ‘Somebody Like You‘ made it to No.5 on the Soulful House Chart, and is currently No.13 on the overall sales chart on the site.

Meanwhile, the full EP has also hit No.6 on the overall singles chart on Traxsource.

The other two tracks are performing well too with ‘Confession‘ at No.26 on the Soulful chart (no.71 overall) and ‘Sounds Underground‘ reaching No.38 on the Deep House chart.

I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everybody who’s helped it get to this point by buying the tracks from the site, and also for the DJ’s who’ve been supporting it. I’ve been lucky enough to have some legitimate house legends like Joey Negro, Grant Nelson and Terry Hunter charting ‘Somebody Like You’ which has been a great help.

The release hits other stores from tomorrow (Monday, May 6th) and then we’re just two weeks away from the next release which I’m delighted to say will be a downtempo offering from the one and only Shur-I-Kan.

Ross Couch – Sounds Underground EP – Body Rhythm 057: Out Now

I’m back again with my latest release, the ‘Sounds Underground EP’ which features three tracks joining the dots between deep, soulful, garage and underground house music.

This one’s already had support from the likes of Joey Negro, Grant Nelson, Terry Hunter, Shur-I-Kan, Davidson Ospina, Sebastian Davidson, Ashley Beedle and Golf Clap and after a successful promo period that saw it scale to the top 10 of both the Soulful House and Singles chart on Traxsource it’s now out on full release.

I recently had the opportunity to do a remix for the forthcoming single ‘Soundbwoy’ from reggae / dancehall star Stylo G on the 3Beat label.

The release has all the makings of a hit here in the UK when it comes out next month having already reached as high as No.2 on the reggae chart on iTunes solely based on pre-orders, along with being the highest new entry at No.7 on Music Week’s Urban Chart and getting plays from the likes of Zane Lowe and Trevor Nelson on BBC Radio 1 and it’s sister station Radio 1Xtra.

‘Soundbwoy’ is set for release on May 26th and the full EP featuring my remix alongside the original and additional reworks from Di Genius and Sigma can be pre-ordered right now over at iTunes.

Below you can hear a couple of different versions of my remix. The first is a shortened radio mix (there is a full vocal mix too), plus a ‘club mix’ which takes a slightly funkier approach and uses less of the vocal.

My new release is out today! Three new downtempo tracks await you at your favorite online stores.

I’m hoping these tracks can follow in the footsteps of my previous downtempo tracks which have performed particularly well on Beatport, with the majority of those release so far having charted on their chillout chart, including the likes of ‘From Dusk Til Dawn’ (No.12 – stayed in the chart for almost five months!), ‘Migration’ (also No.12) and ‘Table For Two’ (No.23).
