For a change I’m going to be releasing a couple of singles over the next few weeks, starting with ‘You Played Me’, which arrived today at Traxsource and comes complete with a radio edit for the non-DJ’s out there who just want to get straight into the music without the beat intro and outro.

While I’m here, check out this DJ Mag mix from the godfather of house music, Marshall Jefferson, who gives one of my tracks, ‘Don’t Say It‘ a spin near the end of his set.
I recently had the opportunity to do a remix for the forthcoming single ‘Soundbwoy’ from reggae / dancehall star Stylo G on the 3Beat label.
The release has all the makings of a hit here in the UK when it comes out next month having already reached as high as No.2 on the reggae chart on iTunes solely based on pre-orders, along with being the highest new entry at No.7 on Music Week’s Urban Chart and getting plays from the likes of Zane Lowe and Trevor Nelson on BBC Radio 1 and it’s sister station Radio 1Xtra.
‘Soundbwoy’ is set for release on May 26th and the full EP featuring my remix alongside the original and additional reworks from Di Genius and Sigma can be pre-ordered right now over at iTunes.
Below you can hear a couple of different versions of my remix. The first is a shortened radio mix (there is a full vocal mix too), plus a ‘club mix’ which takes a slightly funkier approach and uses less of the vocal.
My latest release on Body Rhythm marks a bit of a departure from my normal style as the ‘Detour EP’ is my first ever all-downtempo release.
The idea for this came after I wrote a downtempo track called ‘Angel’ earlier in the year which came out as the third track on the ‘Thinking About You’ release. It ended up doing better than expected, hitting No.20 on the Chill-Out chart on Beatport and staying in the top 40 for two months, while also being the fourth best selling downtempo track on Juno DL over an eight week period and getting to No.10 on the Traxsource lounge sales chart.
So I decided to take a break from the norm and write a full release in this style. it came pretty naturally to me as my stuff is often fairly mellow anyway, so taking the tempo down a few notches actually made a lot of sense.
Since then I’ve been having a lot of fun writing in this genre, I’ve actually found it quite inspiring and have had one of my most prouductive spells in recent years. I think part of the reason is that there’s less rules in the downtempo scene. You don’t have to worry so much about it working on the dancefloor, you can go as musical as you like, and there’s less fads where only one particular sound or style is selling well.
Still, it’s a bit of a gamble putting this release out on Body Rhythm since people have come to expect my usual deep house style on it, but I’m keeping all my fingers and toes crossed that people will like it.

Today marks the release of my new ‘Summer Soundtrack’ release on Body Rhythm. The idea here was to put together a compilation of some of the best summer-influenced tracks that I’ve done on my Body Rhythm label over the years.
As it turned out there was quite a lot of options so it proved to be a bit of a challenge, but in the end I locked it down to 10 tracks.
The release covers the full span of the label, from early favorites like 2008’s ‘Feeling’s Can’t Explain‘, through to ‘Sounds Like Summer‘ which was the best-selling track on my debut album ‘Night & Day’, and on to more recent hits like the ‘Organic Mix’ of ‘Wide Open Spaces‘.
